After selecting the Server and Dynamics SL System Database in the ‘Find Databases’ window, System Message 5003 ‘Unable to open the specified server database ServerName DatabaseName (4060)’ is received.
The most common cause for this issue is that Windows Authentication is being used and the user has not been properly set up with a user account in Dynamics SL.
The next most common cause of this issue is that the user is not properly mapped to the SL databases in SQL server. To resolve this scenario, log into SQL Server Management Studio, expand on Security > Logins, right-click the user login and choose Properties. On the Properties window, choose ‘User Mapping’. Ensure that a check-mark is beside all of the SL databases in the top window and “Public” is checked in the lower pane for each SL database.
